I am an Assistant Professor at the Department of Performing and Digital Arts of the University of Peloponnese in “Informatics Applications in Performing Arts”. I have collaborated with Athena Research and Innovation Center, and the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) since 2009 as an adjunct researcher in Human Computer Interaction. My work focuses on the intersection of Digital Technologies with Intangible Cultural Heritage and Performing Arts. I hold a PhD from the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications at the NKUA, an MSc. in Advanced Information Systems from the same department, a BSc. in Chemical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, a diploma in Classical and Contemporary dance (Professional Dance School “Niki Kontaxaki”) and practical experience as performance/dance artist. I was born in Alexandria, Egypt. My mission is to incorporate to my research projects, creations and teaching the principles of participatory, human-centric design and applying methodologies that respect human and social needs. Led by my bicultural, multidisciplinary background, my vision is to bring to my projects diverse perspectives, processes, concepts and human values, that integrate Informatics and Digital Design analytical thinking with the Embodied experience of Performance and Dance practice.
